Mammography-Screening mammography is the cornerstone of early breast cancer detection.
We offer state of the art mammography services and are committed to offering this vital screening
tool to as many women as possible. We are ACR accredited facility. If your screening exam is
abnormal, you will undergo further imaging studies at the Breast Center.  This may include
diagnostic mammography, which includes multiple views, and possibly magnification views. If
previous studies are not available final reporting may be delayed.  Reports will be sent to your
referring physician, and primary care physician.

Ultrasound-
Certain breast lesions are better imaged with ultrasound.  We have an on
site dedicated ultrasound for completeness of your evaluation.

Stereotactic (non-surgical) Breast Biopsy-
Your screening and diagnostic evaluation
May reveal an abnormality which requires biopsy.  In the past, this required surgery.  Now, many
of these abnormalities can be biopsied in the office using latest in surgical diagnostic techniques -
Stereotactic Breast Biopsy.  The Breast Center has the most technologically advanced  equipment
available for performing stereo tactic biopsy simply, quickly and virtually painlessly, with no
interruption of normal activities.  For some breast abnormalities, stereotactic biopsy may not be
the best or only choice and an ultrasound guided biopsy or surgical biopsy may be recommended.
We will discuss all options together and choose the most appropriate.

Breast Surgery-As a breast surgeon, Dr. Tomaselli can provide the highest quality surgical
breast services.  Some benign breast problems require surgical intervention.  The majority of
breast surgery, however, is for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.  If your evaluation
reveals breast cancer, several options for treatment are available.  We are committed to the
concept of breast conservation when appropriate, realizing that this is not the only choice and may
not be the best choice for all women.  We will have extensive discussions and will provide
detailed information about all your options.  Your family will be encouraged to participate in these
discussions,  if you wish.  We realize that this is an emotional and difficult time for patients and
their families, and we are here to support your decisions about treatment.  Once we are certain
we have provided as much information as possible,  the final decision is always up to you.

Breast Cancer Counseling-
Led by Dr. James Kaikobad, a positive, gentle and life
affirming approach to assist your medical treatment, recovery and healing.

Breast Cancer Treatment
-
Following surgery for breast cancer, several other decisions
may be required, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and
reconstructive surgery.  We will provide you with information about all of the treatment options
and arrange for appropriate consultations with specialists in these areas.  In addition, we will help
you understand and negotiate these often confusing and difficult decisions.

Follow Up
-
We are committed to the lifelong follow-up of all our breast patients.  If you have
no breast disease, you will go into our routine screening program.  If you have breast cancer
you will be placed into an intensive cancer follow-up program.  For our mastectomy patients, we
can help arrange for temporary and permanent prosthetics.

Bone Mineral Densitometry-
The bone density test is the single most useful procedure in
the diagnosis of osteoporosis and the evaluation of risk.  A bone density test is a measurement of
the density of your bone mineral and can be taken from various places throughout the body, such
as the hip, the spine, the heel or the forearm.  The lower your bone density, the higher your risk of
fracture.

A bone density test uses low dosage x-ray technology, applying x-rays
only to the scan site involved, unlike a bone scan which requires a relatively
high  radioactive substance injected into the body.
